I have found that the easiest way to conceptualize the compression therapy industry is by breaking it down into a tiered rating system.
About 70% of my customers end up purchasing a compression machine from Tier 2 level. The rest choose Tier 1 or Tier 3. Tier 3 is composed of companies that use very confusing marketing for their brands. The reason is because 90% of those brands in this tier are actually "Re-brands" coming from the same 2 manufacturers in China. So these brands are almost identical to each another and so these companies have to make up marketing hype to appear different than their competition.
For this reason I have divided up Tier 2 into two sub levels, A and B. The lower the tier the more drawbacks the compression machine has versus benefits. So Tier 2B would have maybe a lower powered compressor for example versus a Brand from Tier 2A.
Rating System based off the following:
mmHg ranges (most are in a low range), Liters per minute, Grade of Materials, Offgassing (some have a terrible smell to them) EMF output, Overall Comfort, Type of Delivery (sequential vs static), noise levels, zipper quality, and Customer Service. If you want specific information on each brand and how it rates on each of these categories please ask.
Tier 1:
A --BOA Max 2, Normatec, BOA MINI+10 (Tier 1A has either the most safety features, most indirect delivery system, and highest fluence) - If you live in NY, California, Texas, Utah, Washington, you can pick these up)
B -- Recovery Pump, Game Ready, Pneumatic Wellness
Tier 2:
A --Recovery Edge, Air Relax, Revita Pump (this tier usually has flow rates under 12 lpm (25l/min is the highest I have found)
B --Elevated Legs,
Tier 3: (This tier has all the brands I have tested that have way under 100 mmHg that are poorly constructed)
ALL BRANDS IMPORTED FROM COUNTRIES THAT HAVE NO UL LISTINGS/ AND NO SAFETY STANDARDS
(90% of these machines are re-brands from same three manufacturers in China and most saunas fall into this Tier)
NOTE: I tell people 95% of the health benefits of using a compression machine are not related to their session.
